What does the Licencia (Titulín) allow you?

The Licencia de Navegación allows for vessels up to 6 metres in length with an engine, navigating by day and less than 2 miles from a port, marina or safe haven. It also allows for the handling of jet skis.

The exam

About the Licence (Titulín)

Does the Licencia de Navegación have an official exam? +

No. It is obtained by completing a theoretical-practical course (a few hours) at a nautical school authorised by the DGMM, which issues the certificate. There is no multiple-choice exam from the Administration.

What can I command with the Licencia de Navegación? +

Recreational motor boats up to 6 metres in length, during the day and less than 2 miles from a port or shelter, as well as jet skis.

Is it the same as the PER? +

No. The Licence is the most basic qualification. The PER (Patrón de Embarcaciones de Recreo) has much greater powers (up to 15 m and 12 miles) and does require passing an official exam.
