What does the Patrón de Yate allow you?
The Patrón de Yate qualifies you for recreational vessels up to 24 metres in length and navigation up to 150 miles from the coast. It is the intermediate step between the PER and the Capitán de Yate.
The exam
El examen oficial del Patrón de Yate consta de 40 preguntas repartidas en cuatro materias (Seguridad, Meteorología, Teoría de la Navegación y Carta de navegación); se aprueba con 28 aciertos, con bloques eliminatorios en Teoría (máx. 5 fallos) y Carta (máx. 3). Apruebas con 28 respuestas correctas de 40 · 120 minutos. Las materias en rojo son eliminatorias: si superas su máximo de fallos, suspendes aunque llegues a la nota mínima.

What powers does the Patrón de Yate grant? +

40 multiple choice questions in four subjects (Safety, Meteorology, Navigation Theory and Chart). Pass with 28 correct answers, with eliminations in Theory (max. 5 errors) and Chart (max. 3).
Do you need to have the PER beforehand? +
Yes. To obtain the Skipper title, you must hold the PER and complete the regulatory practicals.
